HIV testing in practice (HIV TIPs)

HIV testing in practice (HIV TIPs)

MEDFASH produced an online tool, HIV TIPs, to educate and support general practice in overcoming barriers to HIV testing. Its aim is to increase rates of testing and reduce late diagnosis.

HIV TIPs enables GPs and practice nurses to assess their own and their team’s learning needs and to update their knowledge about HIV testing. It also includes materials to help them identify and reflect on obstacles (barriers & challenges) to HIV testing that may exist in their practice, and to lead their team to overcome them

The tool was developed with expert advice from frontline primary care professionals, HIV specialists, public health specialists, commissioners and people living with HIV.

The project was funded by the Department of Health’s Innovation, Excellence and Strategic Development Fund.

Following the closure of MEDFASH in December 2016, HIV TIPs has been transferred to the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and is no longer available on this website. Click on the link below to access it.
