Frequently asked questions

This section of our website offers answers to some questions we are asked by health professionals in relation to HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. As we develop the site, we intend to add more questions. Please contact us if you would like to suggest any topics to cover.

Our remit is to support professionals and we do not have the resources to provide a service for the general public. But if you are worried about your own health or that of a friend or relative, see our links page for a wide range of other websites which may provide the information you are looking for. Or, if you are in the UK, you could phone the confidential National Sexual Health Helpline 0800 567 123 (24 hours) or Terrence Higgins Trust THT Direct helpline 0845 1221 200 (Mon-Fri 10am - 10pm, Sat 12 - 6pm). Both can provide information about other sexually transmitted infections as well as safer sex and HIV.
